Escape to the Big Easy for Mardi Gras! Join the "second line" (a New Orleans brass band parade tradition!) as the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra celebrates the birthplace of jazz. These first-rate jazz musicians from the D.C. area bring audiences to their feet in enthusiastic ovations whenever they perform their swinging interpretations of the great jazz classics. Artistic Director Jim Carroll has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Royal Albert Hall, Apollo Theatre, and the White House. A versatile performer, he has shared the stage with Michael Jackson, Nancy Wilson, Maynard Ferguson, Billy Taylor, Woody Herman and His Thundering Herd, and the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra. Don't miss this festive evening of swingin' New Orleans big band tunes.
