PACO PEÑA - "FLAMENCO VIVO"
Named the “Best Flamenco Guitarist” by America's Guitar for five consecutive years, Peña brings his troupe of brilliant flamenco musicians and dancers to the Center for a musical tour through the history of flamenco. The journey begins with the most primitive forms of this captivating art form and travels to the highest levels of modern flamenco, demonstrating the rhythmic complexities of its latest variations. Born in Córdoba, preeminent artist Paco Peña was a guitar prodigy at the age of 12 and has been the embodiment of flamenco for more than 50 years. In the 1960's, he skyrocketed to fame in London where he was embraced for his brilliant solo recitals. Now, with this production that he calls Flamenco Vivo, he presents the passion of flamenco with an ensemble of guitar, percussion, and voice paired with the raw emotion, spectacular color and rhythmic expression of flamenco dancers. “Music and dance that threatens to blow the roof off the auditorium.
