PACO PEÑA - "FLAMENCO VIVO"

Named the “Best Flamenco Guitarist” by America's Guitar for five consecutive years, Peña brings his troupe of brilliant flamenco musicians and dancers to the Center for a musical tour through the history of flamenco. The journey begins with the most primitive forms of this captivating art form and travels to the highest levels of modern flamenco, demonstrating the rhythmic complexities of its latest variations. Born in Córdoba, preeminent artist Paco Peña was a guitar prodigy at the age of 12 and has been the embodiment of flamenco for more than 50 years. In the 1960's, he skyrocketed to fame in London where he was embraced for his brilliant solo recitals. Now, with this production that he calls Flamenco Vivo, he presents the passion of flamenco with an ensemble of guitar, percussion, and voice paired with the raw emotion, spectacular color and rhythmic expression of flamenco dancers. “Music and dance that threatens to blow the roof off the auditorium. A fantastic night.” (Daily Express)

WALNUT STREET THEATRE - "AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS"

The mother of all adventure stories, this epic tale by Jules Verne is jam-packed with exotic locales, narrow escapes, death-defying adventure, and extreme excitement. Set in 1872, the play follows the eccentric English gentleman Phileas Fogg, who on a bet attempts to circumnavigate the globe in a mere 80 days. Accompanied by his trusty valet, Passepartout, they race across continents and oceans, evading danger and destruction as he tries to beat the clock. Adding to this whirlwind is a Scotland Yard detective in hot pursuit, who suspects Fogg of a massive bank robbery. Performed by Walnut Street Theatre, the critically acclaimed touring company from America's oldest continuously operating theater, this exhilarating stage adaption by Mark Brown is “a wildly whacky, unbelievably creative, 90-miles-an-hour, hilarious journey! A ton of fun for all ages.” (The Tolucan Times)

CELTIC CROSSROADS

From the shores of Galway to venues across America, this inventive ensemble of Celtic-rooted performers seeks to “do to Irish music what Riverdance has done to Irish dance.”

This one-of-a-kind performance event, featuring some of the Irish music world's finest musicians and dancers, is redefining the Celtic sound by focusing on rhythmic boldness and an eclectic array of song styles.
Celtic Crossroads commands a veritable smorgasbord of genres at their deft fingertips: Eastern European gypsy, North American bluegrass, classical, and jazz are all represented in a typical show.
Bodhrán, banjo, mandolin, accordion, mandola, and bouzouki are just a few of the instruments played by the classically trained musicians of the band.
"Seven musicians, each of them proficient on numerous instruments, just play and sing. Sure, they dance, and sure, they move around a lot; it's a high energy concert. But with Celtic Crossroads, the music is what it's all about.”—Bill DeYoung of Connect Savannah
